The Finke River Mission (FRM) Board brings God's saving Gospel to the Aboriginal people of Central Australia. Now centred around Alice Springs, the work of the board is focussed on ministry among over 6,000 Aboriginal Christians in an area extending from almost the Queensland border to well into Western Australia. These members of the LCA are assuming a greater responsibility for the ministry of word and sacrament in their own communities.
Together with Australian Lutheran College, the board is responsible for the training of Aboriginal pastors and evangelists, who proclaim the good news of salvation to their people in five different languages.
The board coordinates the continuing work of providing material in five Aboriginal languages, the Bible, hymns and other worship resources and promotes appropriate literacy programs.
FRM also provides Christian secondary education through Yirara College to nearly 200 Indigenous boarding students from remote Northern Territory, Western Australia and Queensland and a general store service to Hermannsburg at the request of the local community.
