First recorded Scandinavian Language Service in Queensland, held at the Lutheran Chapel Wickham Terrace. Conducted by the Norwegian Pastor, Christopher Gaustad, in the Danish language, June 26, 1872 (Midsummer Day in Scandinavia, St. Hans Aften).
To be observed at the original site: Lutheran Church of St. Andrew the Apostle, Wickham Tce (cnr Ann/Wharf Streets) Brisbane City Sunday 24 June 2012 10.00 a.m.
Guests: The Rev’d Noel Noack (preacher), The Rev’d Frede Tramm, præst Danske Kirke i Australien (Sydney), The Rev’d Mark Vainikka, representing the Finnish Lutheran Church Brisbane, Scandinavian Choir and Choir of St. Andrew’s, led by Steinar Johansen, Réka Csernyik and Mark Boughen on the Knud Smenge built Bethlehem Memorial Pipe Organ.
